Carnival Cruise Line has promoted Cesare Costigliolo to captain, marking a major career milestone nearly two decades after he first joined the company as a deck cadet.
The promotion was celebrated during a ceremony at Carnival's Fleet Operations Center in Miami, where Costigliolo officially stepped into his new role as captain.
Costigliolo's career with Carnival began in 2008 aboard Carnival Valor, where he started as a deck cadet. Over the years, he worked his way through the ranks of the deck department, gaining experience aboard different ships across the Carnival fleet.
He also served aboard Carnival Celebration during the ship's inaugural season. The Excel-class ship entered service in 2022 and became one of Carnival's flagship vessels.
More recently, Costigliolo served as staff captain aboard Carnival Freedom, placing him second in command and responsible for supporting the captain in the safe operation of the vessel.
Congratulations to Captain Cesare Costigliolo on this well-deserved promotion.
