6-year-old boy dies onboard Carnival cruise ship

A 6-year-old boy has drowned in a pool on the last leg of a four-day Caribbean cruise on Sunday onboard Carnival Victory. Miami-Dade Police boarded the cruise ship on Monday morning and identified the boy as Qwentyn Hunter age 6. At the time of the tragic incident Qwentyn  was playing in the pool with his 10-year-old brother when he was spotted lifeless under the water. Passengers quickly pulled the boy out of the water and attempted to revive him without success. They say the drowning appears to be accidental and no foul play is suspected. 

Statement release by Carnival says "Yesterday, Oct. 13, on board the Carnival Victory, while the ship was at sea on the last leg of a four-day Caribbean cruise, a six-year-old boy drowned in the midship pool. He was at the pool area with other family members at the time. " 

"Carnival extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family during this very difficult time. The company’s CareTeam is providing assistance and support."

They say the drowning appears to be accidental and no foul play is suspected.
