Working on a cruise ship means sharing everyday life with people from across the world. Different languages, traditions and backgrounds come together in one workplace, where colleagues can become an important part of each other’s lives.
Aboard Costa Diadema, that international community recently becamed the focus of an Around the World evening dedicated to the crew.
Costa Cruises shared the celebration describing a gathering where colleagues from different nationalities and cultures came together to celebrate what they bring to life aboard. The programme included a crew show, a lottery and a crew party, giving participants an opportunity to share something of their backgrounds and enjoy the evening together.

For anyone who has worked at sea, the idea behind the celebration will feel familiar. You may join a ship knowing very little about a colleague’s home country. Over time, conversations in the crew mess, shared breaks and friendships can introduce you to traditions and ways of life you might never have encountered otherwise.
An evening built around those differences gives people a chance to learn more about the colleagues they work alongside. It also creates space for crew members to be seen beyond their uniforms and job titles.

That matters when a ship is both your workplace and your home for months at a time. Opportunities to relax together can help colleagues build connections outside the demands of their daily duties. A crew show adds another dimension, giving the people who usually support the guest experience their own moment in the spotlight.
