Azamara Journey, the Biggest Cruise Ship that Docked in Pasaia

 With its length of 180 meters and beam of 26 meters Azamara Journey become the biggest cruise ship that docked in the history Pasaia, Spain. The anticipation was high on both sides as hundreds of people waited impatiently to see the arrival of the floating luxury hotel, carrying nearly thousand guests and crew.

The harbor pilot went up half an hour before to guide the ship with the captain Johannes Tysse
in order to navigate the reefs and areas. The maximum allowed length is 185 meters, sometimes overcome by craft goods. It is also a very important to enter the port in daylight and take advantage of the tide.

There were 14 buses waiting for the passengers offering  numerous organized excursions, including the Basque coast, San Sebastian, Bilbao etc..

The president of the Port Authority of Pasaia, Lucio Hernando, admiring the ship  from one of the viewpoints of San Pedro acknowledged that the berthing of these vessels is important because brings income to the local economy. "It is also a way to break the routine of a commercial shipping port and this creates a buzz in the area," he said. The people on the streets of San Pedro, neighbors and onlookers commented on the spectacular entry of the cruise.

The president of the Port Authority, Lucio Hernando,presented a commemorative metope to the captain of Azamara Journey, Johannes Tysse in honor of the ship's first visit to the Port of Pasaia. The "Azamara Journey" is the first cruise ship that arrived at the Basque enclave since 2010.
