The body of Costa Fascinosa missing passenger found in River Plate

Argentinean police confirmed the discovery of the body of Brazilian Odair Marcos Faria, who appeared floating dead on the banks of the River Plate, at the time the city of Punta Lara, in the province of Buenos Aires. Faria had vanished on the morning of March 11 sailing on the cruise ship Costa Fascinosa which had entered the River Plate and was heading to the port of Buenos Aires.

On occasion, his wife Maria Cristina Faria searched the ship without success. Hours later, without finding her husband inside the ship, made the complaint in the Argentine police on arrival in Buenos Aires, as well as communicate the Brazilian consulate in the city. Days later, clueless about her husband, Maria Cristina returned to St. Paul.

According to police sources, on Friday, 14 members of the Midshipman discovered a body floating in the River Plate, wearing only a yellow shorts. The body was in the middle of the reeds 50 meters from the edge of the area campsites "CECO" and "university" in the area of Punta Lara, near La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires city.

The body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute of La Plata, which was identified on Monday, 17, the brother of Faria, Faria Wagner. The brother of slain Brazilian was accompanied by a family friend and an employee of the cruise. The Brazilian consulate is following the case from the outset.

"The body was in an advanced state of decomposition," explained police sources, who highlighted that had been necessary to freeze the body before you performed the autopsy, the results would take several days to get ready.

The prosecutor Ana Maria Medina of Functional Unit Instruction and Trial Number 1 in the city of La Plata investigating the case to determine if it was a murder, accident or suicide.
