Brazilian Crewmembers prevented to disembark in USA

Brazilian crew members onboard the cruise ship Costa Deliziosa, which docked at the Port of Los Angeles, United States, over the weekend, were prevented from landing in the country. According to Costa Cruises, the company responsible for the ship, the ban was due to immigration authority decision. "US immigration has the power to carry out such action," the company said through a spokesperson.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign affairs said it had received an email from a Brazilian crew claiming that they were prevented from leaving the vessel. According to the ministry, the consulates of Brazil in Los Angeles and San Francisco will make inquiries to U.S. authorities what prompted the government not to allow the landing of Brazilians.

According to Costa Cruises, crew members of other nationalities were also unable to land on Saturday and Sunday, while the ship was docked in Los Angeles.

Costa Deliziosa has capacity for 1 100 crew members and 2826 guests.
