The crew of Sun Princess has another reason to celebrate after the ship was awarded the Princess Cup, a special Princess Cruises trophy recognizing outstanding performance across the fleet.

The Princess Cup is an internal fleet competition designed to recognize shipboard teams delivering some of the strongest results for the company. The competition has been associated with key guest-experience measures including Overall Net Promoter Score (NPS), Crew Friendliness and Officer Visibility.

Unlike a traditional industry award, the Princess Cup is very much a crew achievement. The results reflect the combined efforts of departments across the ship, from housekeeping, food and beverage and guest services to entertainment, deck, technical teams and officers.

A Trophy With Some History

The Princess Cup has already developed an interesting history since the competition was introduced in 2023.

Sapphire Princess was the first ship to win the trophy and quickly became the dominant force in the competition. The ship went on to claim the Cup several more times. Crew members have celebrated Sapphire Princess as a four-time Princess Cup winner, while Princess officer Antonino Romano previously documented the vessel becoming a three-time consecutive Princess Cup champion.

Other Princess ships have since earned the honor, including Discovery Princess, Sky Princess and Coral Princess, turning the Cup into a friendly competition between shipboard teams across the fleet.

The Cup itself is a traveling trophy, moving to the latest winning ship, with previous victories represented on its base.

For a vessel as large and complex as Sun Princess, maintaining high guest satisfaction requires thousands of interactions every day and teamwork across virtually every department onboard.
