Brazilian Suspect Pleads Guilty to Raping a Minor on Allure of the Seas

Broward County Judge sentenced Scavone to one year prison and declared him with the title of a sex offender.

A Brazilian citizen pleaded guilty for a rape assault which occurred on January 3 on board the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. Luiz Scavone, age 20, plead guilty on counts of lascivious battery connected to the rape, as well as lewd of teenage girl from Iowa. Broward County Judge sentenced Scavone to one year prison and declared him with the title of a sex offender. After the end of his prison sentence, he will be deported back to his native country Brazil.

Scavone and his teenage brother were arrested on the ten day Christmas cruise which was departing from the port of Fort Lauderdale. The teenage victim informed the police that on the last night on the cruise she met Scavone's 15 year old brother on the ship's Fuel Teen Club. He invited the girl in his cabin where his brother was waiting. According to the official documents, both males did not allow the girl to leave the room and raped her.

After the incident occurred, the girl informed the ship's security and both rapists' where handed over to the FBI as soon the ship reached the home port of Port Everglades. If Scavone decides to stay or return to the States, he would be registered on the national site which informs the general population of sex offenders in their community and would be closely supervised by the authorities.
