Cape Liberty Open for Business After Hurricane Sandy

U.S. Coast Guard announced today that Cape liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, is open and ready to receive cruise ships following Hurricane Sandy.

RCCL Brilliance of the Seas, is scheduled to dock today and set sail on eight nights cruise to the Caribbean.

According to Cynthia Martinez, director of Global Corporate Communications for Royal Caribbean International said that the port sustained minor damages from Sandy. Now the things are back in normal and Cape Liberty staff began working to prepare the terminal for the arrival of passengers. Electricity is not restored jet, but the port is running on electricity produced by backup generators.

"Brilliance of the Seas" began in Quebec City, Quebec on Monday, Oct. 22, and concluded at Cape Liberty today.  "Explorer of the Seas" departed from Cape Liberty on Sunday, Oct. 28, as scheduled, and will return on Sunday, Nov. 4.
New York Manhattan terminals are open, however the Brooklyn cruise terminal is still closed.
