Inger Klein Thorhauge will be the first female captain of the Cunard’s newest ocean liner Queen Anne. Cunard announced the appointment of Captain Thorhauge in the week of International Women’s Day, leading the Queen Anne's on her inaugural season.
Inger Klein Thorhauge was appointed Captain of the Queen Victoria in 2010, but she began her career with Cunard back in 1997 as second officer aboard Vistafjord. Born in the Faroes, she has made numerous voyages around the world during her career with Cunard, first as captain of the Queen Victoria and more recently as captain of the Queen Elizabeth.
“I am very proud to be Cunard's first female captain, but to be named the Queen Anne's first female captain is the highest honour. It means a lot to me to be part of the next chapter of Cunard,” says Inger Klein Thorhauge. “I can't wait to see the reactions of our guests as they first board to set sail and showcase our beautiful new ship to the world, calling at wonderful, exciting ports! I can only begin to imagine how she will be received. When I speak to the Cunard crew about Queen Anne, it's clear how excited and proud they too are to welcome our new ship to the fleet. It is the crew who ensure the very special Cunard experience with our exceptionally high standard of White Star service,
Inger Klein Thorhauge will be joined by Captain David Hudson, who has been with the company since 2006. Queen Anne will enter service at the beginning of 2024, and her inaugural season can be booked from May 2022. More updates on the Queen Anne leadership team will be announced in the coming months.
