Carnival Cruise Lines Cancels Cruises

The Carnival Cruise Lines have recently cut five sailings from the Carnival Legend’s autumn 2013 schedule. Their original plan was to expand the European itinerary, but some circumstances made them to alter their plans. Legend will be modifying the trips on September 25, October 7 and 31, and November 12 and 27, 2013.
Some of the trips which will be replaced are the following:

• 15-night transatlantic crossing which is departing from Dover on September 25th and arriving in New York October 10th. On this trip, the passengers were suppose to enjoy Dublin (Ireland), Glasgow (Greenock), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Reykavik (Iceland), Qaqortoq (Greenland), and St. John’s Newfoundland (Canada).

• 10-night Caribbean cruise leaving out of New York to Tampa departing on Oct. 10th, with the ports-of-call in Grand Turk, Aruba, Curacao, Ocho Rios, and Grand Cayman.

• 5-night Caribbean cruise leaving out of Tampa on Oct. 21st and will be visiting the Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

• 8-night Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on Oct 26th with ports-of-call to Grand Cayman, Mahagony Bay (Roatan), Belize and Costa Maya.

• After this, Legend will continue its original itinerary which is the 7-night Caribbean rotation from Tampa which would begin from Nov. 3rd.

The reasons behind these changes are still unknown and not discussed by Carnival representatives, but there have been speculations that even Royal Caribbean has reduced its number of ships which were stationed in Europe in 2013 because of over-saturation in the region, as well as the decrease of the prices. According to Carnival, passengers who had booked a cruise on one of the previously mentioned itineraries will be able to reschedule on any of the 2013 European departure of the Carnival Sunshine and receive a shipboard credit of $200 per stateroom, but they have noted that the compensation offer does not extend to cancellation or change fees incurred for independently booked flights and lodging related to the cruise.
