Carnival Elation passanger drinks 13 beers and injures her leg in Progresso

A quiet day in the Mexican port city of Progreso was interrupted ba a female cruise passenger who drunk 13 beers and who fall and injured her right ankle.

Carnival Elation arrived yesterday morning in Progreso from New Orleans and tourists occupied the local bars and shops. Passengers enjoyed the sunny day and calm sea and had fun at the beach. Many passengers were chatting in restaurants or roamed the handicraft flea market and the tourist area, when suddenly the sirens of the mobile ambulance broke the quiet.

The incident happened Tin a bar near the statue of Juan Miguel Castro, located at the beginning of the pier. Paramedics rushed to the beach, where several passengers were attending a run to the seaside.

More passengers arrived in minutes to find out what happened, and three municipal officers in patrols and Civil Protection personnel assisted. Paramedics attended the passenger, who was identified as Helen Shea Millon, from Tennessee, United States.

She told the paramedics and that she had 13 beers and went to the sea for a swim, but slipped and fell while attempting to climb felt strong pain in the right foot and could not walk.

Her traveling companions sought help from service providers who notified the municipal police. Paramedics said the tourist suffered no serious sprained right ankle. The passenger was placed in a beach chair; after paramedics stabilized her leg and after the medical treatment she was transported back to the cruise ship who sailed at 5 pm to Cozumel.
