Carnival Luminosa set sail, for the first time, with its new livery and funnel decorated in the official colors of Carnival Cruise Line.
The ship, formerly part of Costa Cruises, now sails in Carnival colors with a striking new design and for the first time with a Bahamian flag. The ship features an antique funnel design reminiscent of those on original Carnival ships like Mardi Gras, Carnivale and Festivale, which have also been painted in the iconic Carnival colors.
Under the watchful eye of Captain Adriano Binacchi, the Carnival Luminosa departed from her dry dock in Palermo, Italy, for Dubai, where the ship's crew will soon be joined and introduced to her new home before heading to her final destination in Australia.
“We anticipated the day when we could see the Carnival Luminosa sail on the open seas with our new hull design and updated funnel, and it is even more special than we imagined,” said Captain Binacchi.
“Now, you're on your way to what really makes a Carnival cruise vacation special: getting our crew on board! With the uniqueness of Luminosa and our team members who make everyone feel at home, this ship will truly bring a new level of fun that our passengers have not experienced before,” she added.
This sailing also marks the first time Carnival Luminosa has sailed under its new Bahamian flag. The ship was officially registered last week with the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA).
Carnival Luminosa will sail from Brisbane to a variety of seasonal itineraries from November 6, 2022 to April 13, 2023, offering something for everyone, before repositioning for seasonal service from Seattle to Alaska next May, including some exotics from Carnival for the first time.
