Cruise Ship Star Pride Hits Rocks in Panama

The cruise ship Star Pride operated by Windstar Cruises suffered damage to the hull after hitting rocks and took on water near Isla de Coiba in Panama. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 6:15 local time, as the shipping company announced. All passengers and crew are safe and no one is injured according to Windstar.

The ship has suffered damage which would make further travel impossible. Passengers are switched to two cruise yachts sailing nearby, the sister ship Starbreeze and Terre Moana by Paul Gauguin Cruises. The two ships, the passengers finally reached the mainland.

The Star Pride is towed to the port of Balboa in Panama, to assess the damage. The current trip has been canceled, and the next cruise departing on 26 December has been canceled. The passengers of the canceled cruise will be refunded the full price.
