The Missing Body of the Crew Member Russel Rebello Found inside Costa Concordia

Three years after the sinking of Costa Concordia, a body was found among the wreckage could be the last missing from the tragedy, the Italian coast guard said.

The Indian Russel Rebello, who worked as a waiter when the ship collided with rocks and sank in January 2012, killing 32 people, was the only person that was missing after the disaster and whose body had not been yet recovered.

 A spokeswoman for the Coast Guard in the northernportofGenoa, where he was transferred in July the ship 290 meters long to be scrapped, said the remains found in the ship "is supposed to belong to the latest victim, Russel Rebello" .

 

 

Who was Russel Rebello

Rebello lived inMilanand worked on Costa Concordia for three months.That fateful night, he was in his cabin resting because he had a fever. At the time of the crash, Russell-then 33 year old father of a child of two years was sleeping and woke up when the water was already under his bed and smoke in your cabin.

He immediately began working in the evacuation of passengers, one of whom gave his life jacket. Nothing more was heard of him.

 

In August, authorities announced the discovery of remains in the vessel, which would be analyzed to see whether they belonged to Rebello. Italian media later reported that it was lamb bones.
