NCL Getaway Will Set Sail Three Months Ahead of the Schedule

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that NCL Getaway will be delivered in late January 2014, ahead of schedule, sailing on seven-day cruise itineraries through the Eastern Caribbean from Miami, all year round.With a capacity of 4,000 passengers, the Norwegian Getaway will be the largest ship to home port, throughout the year, in Miami.

"We are very pleased that Meyer Werft ship will deliver this ship three months ahead of schedule," said Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. "The Norwegian Getaway will offer a fantastic opportunity for Eastern Caribbean cruises."

After the inaugural events in Europe, Norwegian Getaway will reach Miami in late January 2014 to begin his first Eastern Caribbean cruise on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Ports of call include: Philipsburg, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas and Nassau.

In addition, the company has announced a transatlantic crossing, which will start in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 16 January 2014, with a stopover in London (Southampton), England, where guests can embark, and nine days at sea to reach Miami on January 27, 2014.

To accommodate the arrival of Norwegian Getaway in January, the company is modifying existing ships itineraries in Miami during that time. As of February 2, 2014, the Norwegian Epic will depart from Miami on Sunday and sail the Western Caribbean route. Ports of call include: Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. The Norwegian Sun will now depart from Miami, in its routes 10 and 11-day Southern Caribbean, on Mondays and Thursdays.

The Norwegian Getaway, which is currently being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, will be 146,600 gross registered tons and offer a wide range of accommodations. The ship will also feature a rich mix of stateroom options including The Haven, consisting of 42 suites at the top of the ship located in an exclusive private and accessible only by card, and 22 additional suites located throughout the ship . Also offered are innovative Studios, designed for solo travelers, along with a wide range of cabins with sea views.
