Norwegian Dawn’s Bermuda arrival delayed

The plan is Norwegian Dawn to sail the original route but with slower speed and spend more time at sea.

NCL announced that Norwegian Dawn would arrive late in Bermuda because the ship will take cautionary measures due to Hurricane Leslie.

Further statement of the cruise company says that the Norwegian Star will depart as planned from New York, but did not mention if the Star arrival in Bermuda will be delayed two.

Hurricane Leslie is moving towards the Eastern side of Bermuda and is expected to move past the Northeast of Bermuda by late Sunday at which point weather sailing conditions will be favorable.

Departing from Boston or New York requires a full day at sea in order to reach Bermuda and this time of year there are big waves in this area. The plan is Norwegian Dawn to sail the original route but with slower speed and spend more time at sea.

Ships tied to a pier during the storm can be exposed to a risk of damage and even damaging piers where they are tied. This is one more reason why the Dawn is not docking on schedule. There is also risk of the storm damaging the pier and other scheduled ships will have to change or delay their itineraries.
