The following Pre‐Employment Medical Protocol for US Residents first time employed on Princess Cruises ships describes the procedure for arranging medical examinations for US resident crew and staff members.
• Crewmember receives a customized PEME letter from Fleet Personnel which outlines
the procedure to be followed. (see attachment)
• The crewmember telephones WorkCare at 1‐800‐455‐6155 to make an appointment
with an approved doctor closest to them. They will also take a payment deposit in one
of the following forms: money order, bank draft, credit card, or cheque. A penalty fee
will be charged for no shows or late cancellations. The examination should be
performed no later than one month prior to the join date.
• WorkCare emails the crewmember the medical examination forms.
• The crewmember prints the examination forms and completes the self declaration on
page one of the Seafarer’s Medical Examination.
• Crewmember takes all the examination forms, two passport photos and a valid I.D. to a
WorkCare designated doctor and undergoes an examination.
• A copy of a dental fitness certificate issued from a registered dentist within two years
must be taken to their appointment.
• Once completed, the approved examining physician sends the examination findings to
WorkCare.
• The central designated WorkCare physician reviews the findings and laboratory results
and makes a fitness determination based on the Company medical standards.
• WorkCare is responsible for storing all the original documents under HIPPA regulations.
WorkCare must also scan all documents for email dissemination.
• If declared FIT WorkCare emails, within two weeks, the examination findings, laboratory
results and fitness certificate to the crewmember’s email address.
• The examining PEME facility will not issue certificates or exams to any Princess Cruises
email addresses. These documents will only be sent to personal email addresses.
WorkCare separately emails only the fitness certificate to:
FPMedicalCertificates@princesscruises.com. The subject heading of the email must
contain the following: Crewmembers Name_Crew ID#_Department_Rank. The
expiration date of the certificate must be entered into MAPS.
• The crewmember prints all their medical examination findings, laboratory results and
certificate and takes them to the ship when joining. These will be reviewed by the ship’s
doctor.
• It is the Crewmembers responsibility to ensure that their medical certificate is valid for
the length of their entire contact.
• All questions relating to medical certificates, including requests for appeals, must be
addressed to the PEME Review Team, Tel: 1‐661‐753‐2676, email:
