Disney Cruise Line has officially taken delivery of Disney Adventure, the largest cruise ship in the company’s history.
The ship was formally handed over to Disney during a delivery ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, marking the vessel’s transition from construction to active status. With the delivery complete, Disney Cruise Line now has eight cruise ships.
Unlike most ships in the Disney fleet, which primarily operate in the Caribbean and Europe, Disney Adventure will be based in Asia. The ship is scheduled to begin operations from Singapore, with its maiden voyage planned for March 2026.
“Disney Adventure is now one step closer to calling Singapore home,” the cruise line said in a social media post. “The Maiden Voyage sets sail March 2026, welcoming guests on board for magical moments at sea.”
Disney has confirmed that the ship will be homeported in Singapore for at least five years, offering three- and four-night itineraries. This marks Disney Cruise Line’s first long-term deployment in Southeast Asia.
At approximately 208,000 gross tons, Disney Adventure is significantly larger than any ship previously operated by the cruise line. By comparison, Disney’s Wish-class vessels measure about 144,000 gross tons and carry just under 4,000 passengers.
Disney Adventure is expected to accommodate around 6,000 guests, making it roughly 45% larger than the next-largest ship in the Disney fleet.
Disney Adventure also has a unique construction history. The ship was originally built for another cruise operator under the name Global Dream. Construction was already well advanced when the original operator ceased operations and due to bankruptcy.
Disney Cruise Line later acquired the project and reworked the vessel to align with its brand, transforming it into Disney Adventure.
Now that delivery is complete, Disney will begin the final outfitting phase. This includes completing interior theming, conducting system testing, and training thousands of crew members ahead of the ship’s debut.
