Royal Princess, The Largest Ship Ever Built by Fincantieri

With its 141.000 tons, 330 feet long and 38 wide, the Royal Princess, is officially the largest ship ever built by Fincantieri.

Royal Princess, the new flagship of the Princess Cruises fleet, was launched at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard.
With its 141.000 tons, 330 feet long and 38 wide, the Royal Princess, is officially the largest ship ever built by Fincantieri. The new flagship Princess Cruises has 1,780 cabins, including balconies 1,438 (81% of total), and a capacity to accommodate 3,600 passengers, for a total capacity of over 5,600 people, including the crew. The ceremony was attended by president and CEO of Princess Cruises Alan Buckelew, Rai Caluori, vice president of fleet operations. Among others who attended the ceremony were Gabriel Cocco, Director of Merchant Ships, and Carlo De Marco, Director of the yard.

Godmother Victoria Nash, daughter of Captain Nick Nash, christened the new Princess ship.

Construction kick off and will lead to delivery of the ship in Spring 2013. The twin units, construction will begin in late August in the same yard and will be delivered in 2014. Innovative prototype of this class of ship is looking to the future, Royal Princess is characterized primarily by a new design approach not only for the layout and cutting-edge performance, but also because it incorporates all the latest regulations on large ships. Among the cornerstones of this trend are the rational use of space, with the aim of avoiding any waste tonnage would result in an increase in operating costs, and energy conservation to reduce emissions to air and water. The ship can accommodate all possible profiles of cruising, working from Alaska to Australia, even in areas with limited navigation for the Protection of the environment.
