As a result of faulty stabilizers, Seabourn is canceling three cruises aboard the new Seabourn Venture. The recently completed expedition ship will have an unscheduled 35-day dry dock in April this year.
For this reason, the following sailings have been canceled: April 7 (9 days), April 16 (12 days), and April 28 (14 days). These voyages include an expedition the Amazon, a crossing of the Atlantic, and a route to Northern Europe. Seabourn will refund guests the cost of the trip and offer them a 25 percent bonus on a future cruise through December 31, 2023.
Seabourn's first expedition ship was commissioned in July 2022. Built at T. Mariotti, she accommodated 264 guests and was specially designed for cruising in remote and polar regions, while offering the company's signature ultra-luxury product.
After her debut in Northern Europe, Seabourn Venture moved to Antarctica for her first season, where she currently operates and regularly transits the often-rough Drake Passage. According to Seabourn, the safety of the ship is guaranteed even without the use of stabilizers. It is not yet known where the repair will take place.
