Tight Security in Port of Rio de Janeiro during the New Year's Eve

Rio de Janeiro - The Port of Rio will have additional  security of a helicopter, patrol vessel, about 20 smaller vessels and a contingent of 110 troops to during the New Year's Eve party on the beaches of Copacabana and Flamengo. Only at Copacabana, are expected more than 2 million people, according to the municipality tourism company.

For the famous fireworks, 17 ferries are shifted by 12 tugs, 11 in Copacabana, three at Flamengo Beach and three in Icaraí.

The Port Authority is also responsible for organizing the cruise ships and vessels for the  nautical tourism, sport and leisure that are positioned to watch the spectacle of fireworks. On the edge of Copacabana Beach, 13 vessels are expected to cruise and about 250 nautical tourism and sport and recreational vesels.

Coordination meeting will take place with those involved in pyrotechnics to enhance the security details at sea. In the afternoon, technicians Captaincy will preview on the ferries before the displacement of vessels to locations where they will stay for the fireworks show on New Year's Eve.

The people on cruise ships and other vessels of nautical tourism that will leave the pier in clubs and marinas are rigorously inspected to determine whether all safety requirements are being met.
