Submitted by kgnadmin on

Following the recent developments in Catalonia, two cruise ships canceled their arrival in Barcelona. Last Sunday, October 1, on the day of the referendum, the cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 divert its route to avoid Barcelona. Instead, the 293 meters vessel with more than 2,000 passengers arrived in Valencia.

Two days later, on Tuesday, while the general strike was taking place in Catalonia, the cruise ship Mein Schiff 5 canceled its arrival in Barcelona, and sailed towards Valencia, where it arrived after 4:00 p.m. Mein Schiff 5 was on the dock 2 of the Port of Valencia, while many of its passengers discovered the capital of Turia. TUI Cruises said it is monitoring the developing situation in Barcelona and will make a decision whether their cruise ships will call as planned in the future or divert.

Other cruise lines such as MSC Cruises, Costa Cruises, and Royal Caribbean will continue with its regular sailing schedules to Barcelona.
