The undocking of the newest P&O Cruises ship Arvia is scheduled for August 27th at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Undocking will start in the morning at around 9:00 am. The new building then moors at the equipment pier at the shipyard port, where the masts and funnel will be fitted onto the ship by crane and installed. Until the transfer, the interior work on board in will continue and further technical tests and approvals will be carried out. Weather and/or production-related changes when undocking the ship are possible at any time.
The Arvia is measured at over 180,000 GT, 344.5 meters long, 42 meters wide, and identical in construction to her sister ship Iona, which was delivered in 2020. Once completed, around 5,200 passengers will be able to board. Like the Iona, the Arvia is also operated in an environmentally friendly manner with liquid natural gas (LNG). This ensures a significantly lower level of pollution at sea since neither sulfur oxides nor soot particles are released. This is currently the cleanest type of propulsion in shipping. The highlight for the passengers on board is also the atrium, which is glazed over three decks and will offer a unique view of the sights and cities to be reached.
After the Arvia has undocked, the floating engine room module (FERU) for the Carnival Jubilee, which will be delivered at the end of 2023, will be maneuvered into the then free building dock II. The front part of the cruise ship has already been built there in block construction over the past few months. The FERU was manufactured at the NEPTUN WERFT in Rostock and was transferred to Papenburg a week ago.
