Watch Out for Tropical Storm Isaac

Allure of the Seas will change itinerary and sail a western Caribbean instead of its previous eastern Caribbean cruise... Carnival Valor will cancel the call into Curaçao

 

After Ernesto one more Tropical Storm is threatening the cruise ship industry and South Florida. Over the next week the path of Tropical Storm Isaac will affect the itineraries of many cruise ships sailing in Caribbean.  The ninth  Storm of 2012 Hurricane Season started 140 miles east of Guadeloupe on Wednesday morning. With maximum winds of 45 mph and moving west Isaac is expected to reach Hurricane winds of 74mph and projections shows that this tropical storm will hit South Florida newt week.

A tropical storm warning is announced in , Puerto Rico, Lesser Antilles, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix.  Isaac is expected to become a hurricane today as it passes south of Puerto Rico.
Most of the major cruise lines like Disney, RCCL, Carnival and NCL ships are sailing in this area and safety issues are always considered priority.

Royal Caribbean posted official statement on their web site stating “Royal Caribbean International is closely monitoring the path and progress of Tropical Storm Isaac to ensure guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm.  The safety of our guests and crew is always our foremost concern… we encourage guests sailing on Majesty of the Seas®, Monarch of the Seas®, Freedom of the Seas®, Oasis of the Seas® and Allure of the Seas® to monitor RCCL website for any additional updates.”

Allure of the Seas will change itinerary and  sail a western Caribbean instead of its previous eastern Caribbean cruise which called in Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. Allure of the Seas will now visit Nassau, Falmouth, and Cozumel.

NCL statement says “At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance. Therefore, the company is closely monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Isaac. Currently, all of our ships are sailing as scheduled. If any changes are necessary, guests will be notified”

Carnival posted on their web site “In order to stay ahead of the storm and for the safety and comfort of our guests, the Carnival Valor will cancel the call into Curaçao and replace it with a visit to Nassau on Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  All other ships are operating on their scheduled itineraries. As always, the safety of our guests is our number one concern and our ships are maintaining a safe distance from the storm at all times. “

Current projections shows that Tropical storm Isaac is moving towards south Florida and will most likely affect port operations in Miami and Port Everglades on Sunday evening/afternoon and early Monday morning.
