What is Mamagaio on Cruise Ship?

Every Crew member knows the meaning of Mamagaio (using work time for activities that have nothing to do with work.) It's killing time, take a flight all this of course, without your boss finding out.

On the cruise ship there is plenty of room for mamagaios if you know how to do it. Working on ship can be very hard but despite this, you will ALWAYS find some time for the famous mamagaio. You'll sleep in your cabin, get up and down the elevator, play dominos, resting in some locker. You will certainly find time to relate to onboard mafia. A wine here, a pizza there. No matter what they say, the guys in galley are the best mafia. You'll also be able to wash your clothes during working hours, read a book, write a text messages. You can also make the nails, eyebrows, if you have a cool phone, you can get on msn. If you have little time left, you will see the show in the theater, sitting there hiding. If you have a pager or a telephone, you'll be calling your friends and chatting when no one is watching. If you do not have time to take a shower before going to work (because you woke up two minutes before working time), you'll pretend you're going to get a rag in the laundry and go to cabin to take that bath for half an hour.

Your boss will come along and say "great job, you are hardworking employee!" I learned one important rule onboard "it is not what you are working, but what the boss sees you doing!"

Here are some examples of Mamagaio
