Woman found dead on Enchantment of the Seas, FBI is investigating the case

FBI is currently investigating the sudden death of a 62-year-old woman aboard a Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas that departed from Baltimore. According to FBI, there are "suspicious undertones" surrounding the case. The RCCL cruise ship departed on Monday (March 25), after passengers sailed on  a seven-day cruise with stops in Port Canaveral, FL and the Bahamas.

FBI agents said they are unsure when the mysterious death actually took place, but a spokesperson said that 64-year-old woman's body was discovered by her husband sometime on Sunday.

Upon arrival in the cruise terminal in the Patapsco River in Baltimore, Royal Caribbean's "Enchantment of the Seas" was immediately boarded by FBI agents who were contacted by Royal Caribbean International at the time of the discovery.

Officials have released very little information about the incident, other than the woman's age and hometown of Midlothian, Va., about 20 minutes southwest of Richmond. An autopsy of the woman is currently under way. 

Royal Caribbean International, released a statement regarding the incident, which says: "We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the 64-year-old female guest from the United States who died while onboard Enchantment of the Seas. On March 24, 2013, the guest was found by her husband deceased in their cabin.

As is our standard procedure, both the FBI and local law enforcement were notified. The FBI responded to the ship when it arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday, March 25. A member of our Care Team is providing support and assistance to her family.
