$2.5million Yacht on Fire Near the Cruise Ship Port in St Thomas

A luxury yacht was engulfed by fire yesterday morning in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands near the cruise ship terminal. The $2.5million yacht named Positive Energy was docked at the Yacht Haven Grande marina when locals spotted the fire.

US Virgin Islands police and firefighters quickly responded to the scene, and crew from Norwegian Cruise Lines and West Indian Co. Ltd assisted in extinguishing the fire. Dark clouds of smoke from the 77ft yacht were visible from far away for several hours. US coast guard assisted in towing the burning vessel to safe location.

Several hours after the crews responded. the fire was extinguished.

Four cruise ships were docked in St. Thomas, at the time of the fire, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Escape, MSC Divina and Carnival Valor.
