Cruise lines are celebrating Housekeeping Appreciation Week by recognizing the thousands of crew members whose hard work keeps ships clean.
The annual event runs from September 13 through September 19, 2026. During the week, cruise companies and shipboard leaders are sharing team photos, videos and messages of appreciation for cabin attendants, public-area cleaners, laundry workers, supervisors, butlers and other housekeeping employees.
Here is how some of the major cruise lines celebrated Housekeeping Appreciation Week
Carnival Cruise Line
Aboard Carnival Jubilee, the housekeeping and laundry team began the week with a special celebration.
The team, led by Housekeeping Manager Darius Codrea, gathered for a group photo shared by Carnival Cruise Line Lead Hotel Director Pierre. He praised the crew members who keep the flagship clean while maintaining a positive and energetic atmosphere onboard.
Special recognition was given to cabin attendants, housekeeping crew members and the employees working behind the scenes in the ship’s laundry.
Carnival has also used previous Housekeeping Appreciation Week campaigns to recognize more than 8,000 housekeeping and laundry team members across its fleet.
Royal Caribbean International
Royal Caribbean Group marked the week by recognizing the housekeepers and stateroom attendants working aboard Royal Caribbean International ships.
The company highlighted how every cruise experience begins with the care and attention of the crew members who prepare guest cabins and maintain public spaces.
Guests were also encouraged to personally thank their stateroom attendants and show appreciation for the people whose work is often completed quietly behind the scenes.
Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Cruises joined the Royal Caribbean Group celebration by honoring its housekeeping teams and stateroom attendants.
The company recognized their important role in creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces for guests. Former Celebrity housekeeping leaders have described the department as the “engine” of a cruise ship because its work affects almost every part of the onboard experience.
From preparing cabins and corridors to maintaining public areas, Celebrity’s housekeeping crew members are among the hardest-working employees onboard.
Costa Cruises
Costa Cruises launched a social-media campaign showing that housekeeping is present everywhere onboard.
The company shared images of the employees responsible for maintaining guest cabins, public areas, crew spaces and other parts of its ships. Costa thanked the colleagues behind this work and highlighted how their daily efforts create a clean and comfortable environment for guests and fellow crew members.
The campaign also gives the public a closer look at a department whose demanding work is not always visible to passengers.
More Than a Week of Celebration
Housekeeping employees are among the first crew members to begin working in the morning and frequently remain busy throughout the day. They prepare cabins, clean public areas, wash thousands of towels and bed linens and respond to a constant flow of guest requests.
Housekeeping Appreciation Week is an opportunity to bring these hardworking crew members into the spotlight.
To every cabin attendant, public-area cleaner, laundry worker, supervisor, housekeeper and butler working at sea: thank you for everything you do to keep the ships shining.
