The Web Site CruiseJunkie run by the cruise expert Ross Klein reports that eight year old boy drowned yesterday in one of Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas swimming pools. Following letter was given to the guest onboard saying: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share some very sad news.

Early today, an eight year old boy drowned in one of our swimming pools. He was spotted and pulled out of the pool by a guest. Our medical team responded and performed CPR for more than 60 minutes. But sadly, they were unable to revive him.

We are doing all we can to help the family during this difficult time. Royal Caribbean’s Care Team is providing support to the guest’s family and friends, and will provide any assistance they may need.

I know many of you fell for the family and may want to offer words of support. However, we ask you please respect their privacy. We think it is also important for all of us here on the ship to look out for each other and be extra caring and considerate.
