Submitted by kgnadmin on

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a 9-year-old girl from a cruise ship 170 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas, on Monday, officials confirmed.

According to U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Houston, the crew responded to a medical emergency aboard the vessel, successfully airlifting the child to UTMB Health - University of Texas Hospital in Galveston for further treatment.
The girl was reported to be in stable condition, though no further details have been released regarding the nature of her medical emergency.

While the Coast Guard did not officially name the vessel, a photo shared by the 8th District Heartland on X showed a Disney cruise ship. Based on available data and the Coast Guard’s image, the ship involved in the rescue was identified as Disney Magic, which had departed from Galveston on March 2 for a four-day Western Caribbean cruise.

Authorities have not provided additional details on the incident, but the quick response of the Coast Guard crew ensured the child received urgent medical care.
Our thoughts are with the young girl and her family as she recovers.
