AIDA Cruises Brings Three Ships to Hamburg Port Anniversary Celebration

Hamburg is set to host its 837th Port Anniversary from May 8–10, 2026, one of Europe’s largest maritime festivals, with AIDA Cruises returning as a major sponsor for the 12th time.

The cruise line will make a strong showing throughout the weekend, highlighted by three ship visits:

  • AIDAluna – May 8 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Altona Cruise Center

  • AIDAperla – May 9 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Steinwerder Cruise Center

  • AIDAsol – May 10 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Altona Cruise Center

Cruise Experience on Land

AIDA will also set up a 400-square-meter “Holiday World” next to Hamburg’s iconic Elbphilharmonie, offering visitors a chance to experience cruising on land. The space will feature a model cabin, travel consultations, live music, and interactive activities, creating a relaxed harbor-side atmosphere for guests.

Ship Tours and Visitor Access

Visitors looking for a firsthand experience can join guided ship tours, giving them a chance to explore onboard spaces, dine, and get a preview of cruise life. Availability is limited and expected to sell out quickly.

AIDA’s Strong Presence in Hamburg

Hamburg remains a key hub for AIDA Cruises, with seven ships and around 120 port calls scheduled in 2026. On average, an AIDA vessel calls in the city every third day, accounting for more than half of all cruise passengers in Hamburg.

The cruise line offers year-round itineraries from the port, including Northern Europe sailings, Canary Islands getaways, and longer global voyages. One highlight is a 126-day world cruise aboard AIDAsol, departing October 18, 2026, and traveling through South America, the South Pacific, Australia, and South Africa before returning to Hamburg in February 2027.

30-Year Milestone Celebration

AIDA will also mark its 30th anniversary on June 7, 2026, with a special three-ship gathering in Hamburg. AIDAperla, AIDAsol, and AIDAprima are scheduled to meet on the Elbe River, creating a rare multi-ship spectacle.

Focus on Sustainability

AIDA continues to work closely with the Hamburg Port Authority on shore power development, allowing ships to shut down engines while docked and significantly reduce emissions. The company reported more than 400 shore power connections in 2025, with over 600 planned for 2026.

Community Engagement

Beyond cruise operations, AIDA supports several local initiatives in Hamburg, including cultural institutions, maritime organizations, and social programs, reinforcing its long-standing ties to the city.

With multiple ships, interactive exhibits, and major celebrations planned, AIDA Cruises is set to play a central role in this year’s Hamburg Port Anniversary.
