Submitted by kgnadmin on

The godmother of the second LNG cruise ship from AIDA Cruises, eleven-time world champion in track cycling, Kristina Vogel baptized AIDAcosma on April 9, 2022 in Hamburg, Germany. Accompanied by Captain Vincent Cofalka, Kristina Vogel lit up a colorful globe on the Ocean Deck of AIDAcosma. At the same time, the baptismal bottle smashed against the hull of the ship. During the previous one-week cruise "Metropolises from Hamburg", the 4.141 passengers witnessed the preparations for the christening event.

As part of the naming ceremony, a spectacular light show not only made the newest member of the AIDA fleet shine. Visible from afar, the evening sky over the Hanseatic city turned into a sea of bright colors.

The musical star guest of the evening was DJ ALLE FARBEN. In line with the christening motto "The world is becoming more colorful", ALL COLORS was not only part of the spectacular production. After the christening ceremony, he delighted the approximately 350 invited guests and 3.300 guests of the subsequent christening trip in the theatrium of AIDAcosma with an exclusive concert. Other star guests on board were the comedian Ingo Appelt and DJ MOCKABY, who DJed at the AIDAcosma Beach Club on the christening night.

At around 23:30, AIDAcosma said goodbye with a light show on board Hamburg. Extraordinary: The ship passed the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Landungsbrücken to Teufelsbrück with the light show. The two-week christening trip leads to Palma de Mallorca over the Easter holidays until April 23, 2022.

The 337-meter long "AIDAcosma" has space for more than 6,000 guests onboard. The special thing about the ship, which was built at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg: It is one of the few in the world that can run entirely on liquefied natural gas (LNG). It emits significantly fewer emissions than other cruise ships. The environmental organization NABU criticizes that it is still a fossil fuel.

Like the "AIDAnova", the "AIDAcosma " is one of a total of nine LNG cruise ships in the "Helios" class that the American AIDA parent company Carnival had commissioned from the Meyer shipyards. The "AIDAcosma" has been in service since February.
