Allure of the Seas Getting a $100M Makeover - FINALLY!

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas is finally getting that jaw-dropping, multimillion-dollar facelift we’ve all been waiting for—four years late, but hey, better late than never! Because of the pandemic, the revamp got pushed back, leaving the ship with just routine maintenance. But now, it's game on for a $100 million upgrade as part of Royal Caribbean’s “Royal Amplified” program.

The ship's final stop is Barcelona on February 22, before heading into dry dock in Cádiz for a 42-day transformation. That means Allure of the Seas will be out of commission for 48 days while crews take 14,000 tasks at the Navantia shipyard.

“This is our chance to go big again,” said Kevin Douglas, VP of engineering and new builds for Royal Caribbean. “We’ve got thousands of people involved—demolitions, chaos, long hours, and then boom, we sprinkle some fairy dust, and it all comes together.” If you’ve ever lived on a ship mid-renovation, you know the insanity he’s talking about!

So what’s coming?
A new reimagined pool deck, insane new slides, a water park, fresh dining spots, and turning the ice rink into a laser tag arena. Yup, Royal Caribbean is going all out! The team has been on-site since November mapping out every single move, tracking all 14,000 tasks with precision. They even hold twice-daily meetings to make sure nothing goes off track.

And the major highlights?
A brand-new block of cabins and a next-level water park. Two suites are being added above the bridge wings, just like on Oasis of the Seas, and the new water park comes with a high-tech treatment and filtration system.
This is all part of the Royal Amplified program, which has been rolled out in 2018, bringing epic upgrades to Voyager, Freedom, and Oasis class ships.
