Royal Caribbean International spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez says a guest spotted a boat and immediately alerted the crew Thursday afternoon as they were heading from St. Maarten to Cozumel.

Martinez said Friday the Haitians informed the ships captain that they didn't need any assistance and the cruise ship continued on its voyage. The RCCL captain informed the U.S. Coast Guard, which later asked him to go back and help them.

Allure of the Seas rescued 47 men, 7 women and four teenagers and gave them food, water and medical treatment.
They were turned over to the Mexican Authoraties Friday when the ship arrived in Mexico.

The Harbor authorities reported that the final destination of the Haitians, who were dressed in a red shirt to be distinguished, was the National Migration Institute of Chetumal, from where they will be deported.
