Ambassador Cruise Line's second vessel, the Ambition, completed its four-week-long dry dock refurbishment at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. The maintenance work involved various tasks, such as repairing the propulsion units, rudders, and stabilizers, as well as a fresh coat of paint matching the cruise company's colors. On schedule, the ship left the dockyard with the assistance of three harbor tug boats and set course for the North Sea via the North Lock, en route to its next port of call, Kristiansand, a southern Norwegian city. Following this, the vessel will head to Newcastle for its christening ceremony on May 11, presided over by Shirley Robertson, a British OBE. The Ambassador, which has a passenger capacity of up to 1,200 and serves the British cruise market, will then embark on its maiden voyage to France and Spain the following day.
The "Ambition," which was acquired by AIDA Cruises at the beginning of 2022 and previously operated as "AIDAmira," underwent upgrades to its machinery and exhaust gas cleaning to comply with current regulations. The vessel arrived at Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven from Glasgow, Scotland, in April. While no significant changes were made to the hotel sector during the refurbishment, the vessel's appearance was improved.
Until the end of March, the ship served as a floating hotel for Ukrainian refugees in Glasgow, Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government.
