Starting August 22, 2022, Bermuda is officially dropping its vaccination mandate for visitors. Previously, unvaccinated visitors over the age of 12 had to apply for a medical exemption from vaccination to enter Bermuda.
Currently, cruise guests must complete a Bermuda Travel Authorization to enter Bermuda at a cost of $40 per person. At the time of publication, the cruise lines have not updated their policies.
Unvaccinated cruise passengers must be tested for COVID-19 no more than two days before their voyage departs. Depending on the time it takes the ship to reach Bermuda, it may need to be tested again before disembarking in Bermuda.
This is already known to the cruise lines, as Bermuda requires additional testing for vaccinated passengers when the trip to Bermuda is longer than four days.
Here is a summary of Bermuda's updated COVID-19 protocols for other situations:
Unvaccinated residents no longer need to be quarantined for four days when they return to the island, and there is no need for a ten-day test. Unvaccinated visitors must be tested for COVID-19 no more than two days before arriving in Bermuda, and then retested on the fourth day (if they have been there for at least four days).
Unvaccinated visitors must have valid travel health insurance to enter Bermuda and must include proof of travel health insurance on their travel authorization application for approval.
Unvaccinated residents may be tested for COVID up to two days before landing or, if they choose not to, must be tested for COVID upon arrival at the airport. They will be tested again on the fourth day, but there is no quarantine and no test on the 10th day.
Residents who previously traveled with proof of recent recovery or with a medical exemption from vaccination are no longer required to provide that proof or obtain that exemption. Instead, they must take a pre-arrival test and a fourth-day test, or an arrival test and a fourth-day test.
Unvaccinated seafarers will be tested for COVID no more than two days prior to departure, and since those voyages to Bermuda take longer than two days, they will also need to provide proof of a negative COVID test within 24 hours of arrival in Bermuda.
They can do this by using a telehealth service or by going to a Perot post office. He will be tested again on the fourth day.
