British Passenger Airlifted from Sky Princess

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Spain maritime rescue services evacuated a British passenger who fell ill aboard the cruise ship Sky Princess as it sailed off the country’s northern coast.

The passenger, suffering from a heart condition, was airlifted Wednesday evening by a rescue helicopter as the vessel traveled five nautical miles southwest of Cape Silleiro in the Galicia region.
Authorities confirmed the woman was transported to Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo for urgent medical care. No further details were released about her condition.

The Sky Princess, which had departed Southampton on a 12-night Mediterranean voyage, had just left Vigo and was en route to Funchal, Madeira, at the time of the emergency. The itinerary also includes stops in the Canary Islands before the ship returns to the UK via Lisbon.
