Canadian missing after jumping from RCCL Adventure of the Seas

US Coast Guard is searching for a man who jumped overboard the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Adventure of the Seas in to waters of Mona Passage on Saturday night.

The individual was identified as Canadian citizen, Tien Phuoc Nguyen, 26. Apparently, the man who was on the cruise with his family, was last seen at approximately 8:46 p.m. Saturday night. According to the RCCL the ship sailed 15 nautical miles east of the island of Mona when was reported that a man jumped overboard. The staff of the San Juan Coast Guard was notified of the incident at about 9:00 pm. 

The cruise line's spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said in a release the captain stopped the ship and immediately turned around, alerting local authorities. Closed-circuit camera footage shows Nguyen going overboard. Early Sunday morning, the ship was told it could continue on to San Juan, where the seven-night cruise ended.

Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances that may have led to man jump overboard. A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and Cutter Cushing Coast Guard were sent to the area to search for the missing person.
