A distress signal from a sailboat caused Carnival Breeze to move off-course on Thursday, November 4, not long after midnight, to rescue passengers in need on a sailboat.
The vessel was sailing back to Galveston, Texas around 1 am Thursday morning from its five-night cruise when officers picked up a mayday call and altered the course to assist.
One lifeboat was lowered by trained Carnival Breeze crew members and completed the rescue of the injured captain, two passengers and two dogs.
They were transferred on the cruise ship to receive the needed medical treatment.
Right after this rescue, Carnival Breeze headed towards her homeport of Galveston slightly delayed this morning. Carnival Breeze had a quick turnaround with new guests and headed on its four-night voyage that will call in Cozumel, Mexico on November 6.
Carnival Breeze was the third Carnival Cruise Line ship to resume cruises on July 15, 2021 after the big cruise industry shut down last year. Carnival has been recognized as a Company that gave help and rescued other smaller ships, cooperating with the U. S. Coast Guard cutter.
