For the second time in less than a month, the Carnival cruise ship Paradise has come to the rescue of Cuban migrants. Passengers aboard the Carnival Paradise heard an announcement from the captain and then the cruise ship circled a makeshift raft with six people on board.
"The captain came over to the speaker and said we were going to slow down, that they had a boat to make sure they weren't in any danger," one passenger said.
A @WPLGLocal10 viewer cruising on the @CarnivalCruise Sunrise sent us this video from the ship as it came to the aid of 12 men stranded in a small boat south of Key West yesterday. The men, believed to be Cuban migrants, were later turned over to @USCGSoutheast. pic.twitter.com/2Rd0Uh7wID

The cruise ship stopped and a raft made of styrofoam and plywood slid into the side of the ship.
The migrants were welcomed on board the cruise ship where they received medical care, food and clothes, said Carnival Cruise Lines spokesman. When Carnival Paradise reached Cozumel, they were turned over to Mexican officials.
Supposedly the migrants have left their country because Cuba is going through a serious economic crisis aggravated by the pandemic and the US blockade.
