Carnival Vista Cruise Ship Behind the Scenes Video Series Goes Below Deck

The new “Behind the Scenes: Carnival Vista” video series continues with the second episode venturing below deck to showcase the line’s largest and most innovative ship which is set to debut from Europe May 1, 2016.

In the video, entitled “Below the Waterline,” host Peter Gonzalez heads to the Fincantieri shipyard to interview Carnival Vista’s Chief Engineer Cesare Boldrini who talks about the groundbreaking technology incorporated into the 133,500-ton vessel – 85 percent of which has never been employed before on a Carnival ship.

Gonzalez also explores the ship’s Azipod propulsion system that includes twin 170-ton propellers that can rotate a full 360 degrees.  He also examines the hundreds of massive 2,000-pound support blocks that must be expertly positioned to ensure maximum stability during the construction process.

The next video in the series will showcase the logistics behind developing the line’s first on-board brewery at the RedFrog Pub, just one of many innovations featured on Carnival Vista which will also feature the first IMAX Theatre on a cruise ship and the line’s longest water slide to date, a 455-foot-long inner tube slide called Kaleid-o-slide.

Carnival Vista is scheduled to operate an inaugural European season from May to October 2016 followed by a series of voyages from New York then launch year-round Caribbean cruising from Miami in November 2016.
