Today the first section of the Queen Anne, Cunard's newest ship, was floated at Fincantieri's shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia. The 116-meter long block that will form the lower forward section of the hull was launched from the inclined slipway, representing the largest section ever built at Castellammare di Stabia shipyard.
This is Queen Anne’s first major milestone since the steel cutting in autumn 2019, with the large portion of the ship taking shape and already in the water. The block will now be transported by sea with the assistance of tug boats and transported to Monfalcone, where it will be assembled with the rest of the ship.
Fincantieri shipbuilding group has a long-standing tradition with Cunard Line previously delivering Cunard’s popular ocean loners Queen Victoria in 2007 and Queen Elizabeth in 2010.
Cunard’s new Pinnacle-class ship which is expected to be completed in early 2024, will weigh in at 113,000 gross tons, will have a length of 323 m (1060 ft), beam of 36 m (118 ft) and be able to accommodate 3,000 guests and 1050 crew.
Queen Anne, will feature newly designed signature spaces from across the fleet as well as new dining, and entertainment experiences inspired by the blend of old and new.
