CLIA strengthened its structure by appointing Sascha Gil as Vice President in charge of sustainability. The Cruise Lines International Association, which is the main voice of the cruise sector worldwide has chosen an experienced professional to further encourage environmental innovation in the sector.
Sascha Gill, former vice president for nautical operations, has already gained extensive experience in the cruise sector (Viking, Seabourn Cruise Line, Cunard), in the hotel sector (Marriot, Intercontinental, Hilton), as well as as a senior consultant for the Protection brand for Richey International in Asia and the United States.
"Europe has the most ambitious sustainability standards and targets in the world." And the future of cruises goes precisely through sustainability - said Marie-Caroline Laurent, director of CLIA Europe - Strengthening our skills in this topic means being able to provide greater support to our associates, who are committed to achieving the goal of zero carbon emissions by 2050.
In his new role, Gil will lead CLIA Europe's sustainability efforts. "I am happy to join Clia at such a delicate and important moment for the sector - he commented - Cruises are an outpost of environmental innovation of the entire maritime sector and I look forward to working with the companies and all our partners, contributing to the achievement of sustainability goals".
