Coast Guard Rescues Sick Carnival Miracle Crew Member

Elizabeth City-based Coast Guard helicopter medevaced a 39-year-old crewmember suffering from abdominal  pains onboard Carnival Miracle on Thursday evening. The cruise ship was 290 miles offshore of Hatteras when the coast guard received a call from Miracle’s bridge around 6:30 p.m, requesting for assistance.

Air crews from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a HC-130 Hercules aircraft were dispatched.
The Coast Guard hoisted the man into a helicopter and took him to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.

There is no update on the crewmember’s condition. Carnival Miracle was sailing on 8 Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise, Departing from New York.
