Meier Werft shipyard in Papenburg provided an update on the construction of the Carnival Cruise Line newst ship Carnival Jubilee, highlighting the progress that has been made in recent weeks.

Carnival Jubilee is the first Excel-class cruise ship to be built for Carnival Cruise Line in Germany, marking a significant milestone for the company is expected to be completed in the second half of 2023, with the maiden voyage set to take place in December.

Construction of the 180,000 gross ton Carnival Jubilee began in March 2022 when Carnival Cruise Line and Meier Werft Shipyard celebrated the cutting of the first steel.

The keel was laid in July 2022 and since then the shipyard has been working hard to bring the vessel to completion. Today, January 17, the shipyard provided an update on the construction of the cruise ship, showing the final coat of blue paint on the ship.

Meier Werft in Papenburg, Germany stated on their Facebook page: "The year 2023 is now a few days old, so it's high time to repost a recent photo from our dock: The Carnival Jubilee is currently under construction in Hall 6, with its light with the blue color and ready ship name, she is an impressive sight.”

"Work on and inside the 345m ship for the US shipping company Carnival Cruise Line continues to progress. When completed, it will in no way be inferior to its Turku-built sisters, the Mardi Gras and Carnival celebrations.”

The ship now has a shimmering blue hull paint, a red stripe along the edge of the hull, and flowing name lines painted on the side of the ship. The full pan is now painted, with no visible bare metal.

In the coming months, look out for more updates on Carnival Jubilee's construction progress as the shipyard installs major fun items like the BOLT roller coaster and Carnival Cruise Line's signature whale tail funnel.

Carnival Cruise Line will soon reveal more details about this exciting new cruise ship, as several areas on decks 6, 7 and 8 have yet to be revealed. In many of these areas, several changes occurred between Mardi Gras and Carnival celebrations. Carnival Cruise Line is expected to come up with several new venues and spaces for the Carnival Jubilee.

Carnival Jubilee was due to set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton in the United Kingdom. However, due to delays in the global supply chain, this trip and several others were cancelled. Affected sailings are all voyages from October 30, 2023 up to and including sailings from December 16, 2023.

Due to the delay, Carnival Jubilee's maiden voyage will now set sail from Galveston on December 23, 2023. Further details on that sailing are not yet available.

Once completed, Carnival Jubilee will be based year-round in Galveston, Texas and will operate seven-day cruises to the Western Caribbean departing every Saturday. Voyages include cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico and Mahogany Bay on Isla Roatan, Honduras. The vessel will be able to accommodate 5,347 guests at double occupancy and as many as 6,631 guests when fully booked.
