Costa Cruises presented new cruise ship Costa Diadema

The newest cruise ship Costa Diadema was officially presented by Costa Cruises on Saturday (25/10). The liner was fully built in the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, with € 550 million in investments. The process involved hiring 3,500 workers and 400 suppliers.

The Costa Diadema is the 15th ship of Costa Crociere built in Fincantieri. Altogether, the shipping company has invested more than 5 billion euros for the construction of this ship yard. " Costa Diadema sets new standards for the cruise industry in Europe and further strengthened our leadership in the region. The ship is our new brand positioning: the offer that Italy has to offer - modern lifestyle, hospitality and elegance, "said Michael Thamm, CEO of Costa Crociere SpA

Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri shipyard, adds: "The Costa Diadema is the 44th cruise ship built since 2002 and the 12th we conducted in partnership with Costa We are very proud to present all the Italian excellence in conceiving. and build a ship with great technological complexity and competitiveness for the cruise industry. "

With 132,500 tons and 300 meters long and 37 meters wide, the Costa Diadema offers 1,862 staterooms and will be the main Italian ambassador of the company in terms of entertainment, gastronomy and hospitality. Indoor facilities and public areas of the new ship are more welcoming, more spacious and modern.

Outside, the highlight is the Promenade, a "boulevard" linking with 500 meters stem to stern of the ship on deck 5. Decorated by two large glass mosaics by Italian artist Roberto Bixio, the avenue will have six gastronomic spaces and two Jacuzzis in huts format and that will extend to the outside of the ship, thus creating a feeling of being suspended over the sea.

October 30, the Costa Diadema will sail from Venice towards the city of Trieste, Italy. From there, the ship performs a vernissage cruise starting on November 1st and visits to destinations in Dubrovnik, Corfu, Malta and Naples to get to Genoa on November 7 for the baptism ceremony.

From November 8 throughout the end of 2015, Costa Cruises makes Diadema seven-day Western Mediterranean stopping to Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Naples and La Spezia.
