Submitted by kgnadmin on

Carnival Cruise Line has expanded its fleet to 27 ships with the recent addition of Costa Firenze, now renamed Carnival Firenze, from sister line Costa Cruises. This report highlights the key details of the new vessel and its upcoming operations.

Ship Details

Carnival Firenze, built in 2021, is a spacious vessel capable of accommodating up to 5,260 passengers. The ship was handed over in Cadiz, Spain, marking the beginning of a two-month refurbishment project to enhance its amenities and features.

Sailing Plans

After refurbishment, Carnival Firenze is scheduled to commence year-round operations from Long Beach, California, starting on April 25. The ship will offer a variety of sailings, including three and four-day trips to Mexico and Catalina Island, as well as longer itineraries ranging from five to seven days to the Mexican Riviera, with stops at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.

Italian Influences

Carnival Firenze, like its sister ship Carnival Venezia, features distinct Italian influences. The ship's atrium is modeled after Florence’s main public square, Piazza del Duomo, while the lido deck draws inspiration from the scenic Italian Riviera. Moreover, the vessel will offer a selection of Italian-themed food and drink options that have been popularized on Carnival Venezia.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed excitement about the addition of Carnival Firenze to the fleet, stating, “The beauty of Florence, Italy is about to meet the fun of Carnival Cruise Line.” She highlighted the significance of Carnival Firenze joining Carnival Venezia in showcasing Carnival Fun Italian style.
