Costa Luminosa crew member was admitted to San Paolo hospital in Savona today after his condition deteriorated. The man had fever and breathing difficulties and was in need of urgent medical attention. This is the eighth person hospitalized in Ligurian hospitals from the cruise ship, moored since March 20, in the port of Savona.
Meanwhile, the plan between the National and Ligurian Civil Protection and the local authorities is to bring all the passengers and most of the crew home continues. Costa Cruises plans to disembark most of the crew on Costa Luminosa in the following days and only hundred seafarers should remain on board, for operation and maintenance of the ship.
Yesterday the French health authorities confirmed that 36 people tested positive for Covid-19 cases on Costa Luminosa, reports Ship Technology website.
Last week, the cruise ship docked in Marseille, France, where passengers with confirmed travel arrangements to their countries disembarked. Officials said that 639 passengers disembarked from the ship and the authorities carried out testing for passengers and crew who showed symptoms of the disease.
Before crossing the Atlantic, Costa Luminosa disembarked two passengers in Puerto Rico who later tested positive for Covid-19, while four infected passengers left the ship in Tenerife, Canary island.
