Crew Member Airlifted from Celebrity Edge for Urgent Medical Care

Submitted by kgnadmin on

A crew member in needed of urgent medical attention was medevacked from the cruise ship Celebrity Edge while the vessel was sailing off the coast of New South Wales, Australia. Responding to the request Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) organized a medical evacuation to transfer the crew member to a medical facility on land.

AMSA coordinated with the Toll Ambulance Rescue helicopter from Wollongong, which lifted the patient from the ship using a winch. An additional rescue aircraft from Essendon provided support during the operation to make sure everything went safely. Once the crew member was safely airlifted from the ship, was taken to a hospital in Bega, New South Wales, for treatment.

Passengers and crew on board expressed their gratitude to the medical teams for their quick and professional response.
Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the crew member, and we hope for a full recovery and soon to rejoin the ship.
